Similar to the outposts in in South Philly and Center City but larger, the Ardmore branch of Rocco Cima’s “healthy and delicious” quick-service cafe now has an official opening date.  Expect the same (huge) menu of salads, wraps, panini, bowls, flatbreads and smoothies, with no dish costing you more than 500 calories.

In 1994, a Massachusetts man named Steve Silverstein got fed up with the lack of suburban restaurants that had both good food and decent prices, and launched his first restaurant. Fast forward 20 years, and there are 21 NYAJ locations across five states, serving American faves like burgers, pizza, soups and salads. Pennsylvania’s first is already open in Glenn Mills, and Ardmore will be home to the second.

The eleventh outpost of this local mini-chain launched in December, but it’s definitely part of the new boom. With acclaimed brewer Paul Rutherford overseeing the brewhouse and a large, family-friendly dining room for eating a menu of American classics, the brewpub is likely to become a go-to destination for the immediate region.

Since its launch two years ago, Jean Brollier’s tiny brewery has garnered local fanaticism and national recognition for its “Strange & Beautiful” offbeat beers. Lines for growler fills of new releases often stretch around the Ardmore Avenue brew-cafe, and so the company is expanding. Less than three blocks away, the new production facility will be capable of producing up to 10,000 barrels a year, and will also have its own on-site cafe.
